Starting Your State Farm Claim

State Farm claims can be started through your local State Farm agent, the State Farm app, or the claims phone line. Whichever way you begin, you will be assigned a claim representative, and that is the person we send your estimate, photos and any supplements to.

When you come in, it helps to bring your claim number, your adjuster's name and phone number, your policy card and any photos you took at the scene. If you do not have all of that yet, bring the vehicle anyway and we will help you work out the rest.

Do I Have to Use a State Farm-Recommended Shop?

No. State Farm may suggest shops, but Kentucky law gives you the right to choose where your vehicle is repaired. If you choose AutoMax, we work with State Farm on your behalf. We submit our estimate and photos to your adjuster and answer their questions so you are not stuck relaying messages.

Hidden Damage and Supplements

An initial estimate often misses damage that is only visible once panels and bumpers come off. When we find something extra, we stop, photograph it, write a supplement and send it to your State Farm adjuster for approval before continuing, so your claim and your repair both stay accurate.

If Your Car Is Not Drivable

Tell your State Farm claim representative where the car is, and ask whether your policy includes towing and rental reimbursement. We can start the estimate as soon as the vehicle arrives, and structural damage is checked with a full structural damage assessment.

State Farm Collision Claim FAQs

Does State Farm require me to use a Select Service shop?

No. State Farm maintains a Select Service program of recommended shops, but using one is optional. You can have your vehicle repaired at AutoMax and we will coordinate directly with your State Farm claim representative.

My State Farm agent gave me a number to call first. Should I still get an estimate from AutoMax?

Yes. Report the claim the way your agent advises, then bring the vehicle in for a free estimate. We will give you a written repair plan you can compare with the adjuster's numbers.

Will my State Farm repair include ADAS calibration if it is needed?

If the repair touches bumpers, windshields, mirrors or sensors, cameras and radar may need recalibration. We will tell you when that applies and include it in the repair plan. See our ADAS calibration service.
